Catches,line,length,the grip,and sometimes even the match all start to slip away with the entry of dew.But what is the dew that just shows up out of nowhere?

Dew 

Dew makes an appearance mostly in humid conditions and day and night matches.They are nothing but little drops of water that we generally see on blades of grass, even when it has not rained.To understand the dew formation on a surface level,let's look at the air around us.Now, air consists of water vapour.in the daytime when the temperature is high more water evaporates as warm air has a greater capacity to hold water vapor.And when the sun sets, the temperature drops, the ground cools,cooling the air above it.Future reducing the air's capacity to hold vapor. And eventually at a certain temperature,the air is at its limit of holding vapor,the dew point. And below the dew point,the excess vapor starts to condense, forming dew all across the ground.And this same condensation is what makes water from air around settle on the surface of a cold bottle. Interestingly,in place with high speed winds even though there might be condensation they don't let the dew stay. And that's why very rarely do we see them in Australia and New Zealand. But let's not take these little drops for granted; we've all seen them in action.And we all know what they are capable of so,if you knew dew could come into play what would you do if you won the toss ? Dew effects;

Bowling: Ball becomes wet and it's difficult to grip, killing the ball variations. The pitch becomes wet, the ball will not get enough traction, It skids, killing the spin. Ball goes straighter and is easier to hit. Dew makes the ball shinier, irrespective of the side, affecting the contrast swing (both sides are polished).

Batting : It becomes easier to play shots, as the ball reaches the bat straight, without much turn and swing. The dew point is associated with relative humidity. Humidity(dew) affects the synthetic glove, the hand perspiration will not evaporate rapidly.

Fielding : The ball skids which can result in bad timing while fielding. Wet outfield is slippery, making fielding unpleasant and tough.Also read : What makes A spin friends pitch
