Bail denied for Dhanushka Gnatilaka

 According to media reports, citing police documents, the victim of Sri Lankan cricketer Dhanushka Gnatilaka was strangled multiple times and "endangered his life." 

 This lady of hers was at her home in Roses Bay, Sydney on 2nd November after dating a cricketer who was here as part of her Sri Lanka squad for her Cup of the T20 World Cup. She claimed to have been sexually assaulted four times. 

 Gnatilaka, 31, was then arrested by Sydney police at his hotel in Sri Lanka while the rest of his team were heading home after the team finished the Super 12 phase. 

 The left-handed thug was denied bail on Monday and faces up to her 1

-year prison sentence. In her complaint, the woman alleged that Gunatilaka tried to strangle her three times during the sexual assault. 

 "The applicant grabbed the wrist and tried to remove the defendant's hand, but the defendant strangled him," Australian media reported, citing police documents. 

 “The applicant feared for his life and was unable to dislodge the defendant. 

 The next hearing in this case is scheduled for 12 January. We are very aware of this and have suspended Gunatilaka from all matches.

 Ashamed of the incident, the Sri Lankan government has requested the SLC to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Gunathilaka was eyeing the ducks in Sri Lanka's first round match against Namibia. 

 He was subsequently ruled out of the tournament due to injury, but he remained with the team after qualifying for the Super 12 stage. Having represented Sri Lanka in eight Tests, 

7 ODIs and 

6 T20 Internationals, Gunati Laka is no stranger to controversy. 

 In 2021, he received his one-year suspension from SLC after breaking the team's biosecure bubble on the Tour of England with teammates Ksar his Mendis and Niro Chandikwella. 

 SLC also handed him his six-month suspension in 2018 after violating the team's curfew. That same year, Gunatilaka was also suspended after her unnamed boyfriend was accused of raping a Norwegian woman. .
